Using the Arocs in rugged conditions impressed me with its stability and adaptability. Powertrain efficiency ensured smooth trips across hilly terrain. The seating setup provided decent support over prolonged use. However, I noticed minor vibration transferring through the steering column, mostly on uneven roads, which was a touch annoying. Fuel economy? Acceptable, considering its size.

Two years ago, I bought a used Mercedes-Benz LK 814 dump truck. The first year, it ran without any breakdowns. Then, I had to replace the receivers as the previous ones were in terrible condition. I replaced them with new ones, following the operating manual (which I downloaded from the internet). Additionally, there was an unknown noise in the engine. We turned to the service center to address this issue, and they fixed the breakdown. I purchased the dump truck in decent condition, but I never thought that within the first 2 years of use, several problems would arise at once.

In my opinion, the Mercedes-Benz Atego 1823 deserves a rating of 4.5 out of 5. At the time of purchase, it had a mileage of 40,000 km, but the machine drives like new. According to the previous owner, there were no problems with the car related to breakdowns. The fuel consumption is pleasingly economical. During warm weather, it does not exceed 22 liters, and during winter it is 24 liters, but this is when loaded up to 12 tons. The driver's cabin has all the conditions for comfortable work.

Been running the Arocs 2553LS 6x2 for a couple months, mainly hauling aggregates out to sites. First thing, getting in and out is a faff with those five steps, it stands higher than what I'm used to with the Actros. But that driving position gives you a brilliant view all around, so not gonna complain there. The gearbox is smooth, never kicks up a fuss even when loaded on some rough tracks. The MirrorCam’s a decent upgrade, still takes some getting used to and not sure I like everything about screens replacing mirrors, but less noise in the cab. For comfort, the suspended seat is sweet, just wish the controls for air and heat were a little more intuitive. Fuel tank size is on the small side for longer runs. It’s a big cab with a lot of room, but I do miss the easy hop in-out from lower trucks.

Took the Mercedes Actros 4148 dump truck on lease for a year. It's a shame that I currently don't have the opportunity to buy such a machine myself. I would rate it a 5 for all parameters. When fully loaded, it confidently drives on the highway, demonstrating smooth performance. The dump truck has a reliable metal radiator guard. But the list of advantages does not end there. One must personally try out this machine to appreciate all its benefits.

Been on 8-leggers a long time and had a run in an Arocs 8x4 (the 3240K spec). First thing I noticed was how easy it is to place on the road for something this size. Steering is light and quick, and the turning circle is better than I expected for an eight-wheeler. In town stuff and tight yards it just feels less stressful.

MirrorCam on a tipper sounds like a gimmick till you actually use it. On a rigid it’s not some huge revelation, but it does the job and I like not having big mirrors sticking out waiting to get clipped on site. That said, it’s not flawless - I had to wipe a camera because a mark messed with the view, so yeah, you still end up cleaning it.

Cab-wise the digital dash/Multimedia Cockpit is nice, but I’m still not 100% on poking screens while rolling. You’d get used to it if you drove it every day. Hill hold is proper handy on stop-start hills, and the engine brake is strong, better than a few other rigs I’ve driven.

Only real gripe: 394hp is fine empty, but loaded on hilly work it’s gonna feel busy. If your routes look like Pennines or you’re dragging a drawbar, I’d want a bit more power.

Short take from a driver who moves muck daily: Arocs handles well, nice on motorways and tight town work. Hill hold and engine brake make life easier, especially in places with steep stops. The 394bhp test unit climbed fine empty but i'd want more power for loaded runs - mercs offer bigger engines, so choose wisely. MirrorCam is fine, you can still spec classic mirrors if you prefer. Cab is compact but practical; smaller cab gives a bit more payload and getting in/out is easier. Touchscreens and gadgetry are alright but I wouldn't bet on them over simplicity for rough sites. Mixed feelings on spec - good build and useful features, but pick the driveline to match your work.

Just finished a couple long hauls with the Arocs, mixed loads. The cab is quiet, which I really dig after hours on the road. Typically, you don’t even hear much from outside unless it's really rough. The seat adjusts easy, and I barely felt tired even after a full shift. Tech stuff like the safety systems are handy but sometimes all those alerts get a bit much. I get why they're there, but yeah, a bit noisy on the warnings. Truck seems reliable, I didn’t spot any issues, but time will tell after more months with it. Service intervals seem reasonable, no surprise headaches so far. For me, the comfort and stability on highways is the best part. Not the cheapest truck out there, but it’s manageable for the features you get.

Been driving the Arocs 3240K around Yorkshire for a bit and gotta say, the engine is a real plus. Low idle at 500rpm, not much noise in the cab, which is actually nice when you have a long shift. The Powershift 3 auto box is alright, moves through gears smooth, but sometimes when you’re in tricky city spots, I’d like a quicker downshift. The seat’s comfy, no issues on that front, high up so the view’s great, but you notice the engine tunnel - it’s pretty big and gets in the way a bit. Not a fan of the tiny mph markings on the dial - takes a second to find ‘em, kind of annoying when you need to keep your eyes ahead. Brakes worked well, especially liked the engine brake on the big hills.

Price feels about what you’d expect for a Merc, but a bit more maybe than some. Maintenance is fine, nothing crazy so far. Reliability’s been decent apart from some weird squeaks, but nothing major. I’d say it’s a solid ride, just a couple quirks you gotta get used to.

In the company's fleet of concrete manufacturing equipment, there is a Mercedes-Benz Actros 3341 dump truck. Everything was fine for 2 years since the purchase, but suddenly one day the dump truck stalled. After priming it with a pump, it started up, but the engine began to misfire both at idle and during movement. We had it diagnosed and the problem turned out to be a faulty fuel injector. We replaced it and have been using the dump truck for 1.5 years now. There have been no further breakdowns so far.
